Working & Digital Nomad

Cafes are not a visa. Outline work permits, remote-work products, and where people actually sit down to work.

The order of a move is on Moving to Thailand. Stay categories are on Visa & Entry. This page is what you can do for work once you are here.

Work legally

A tourist stamp does not cover a job. Remote work for an overseas employer still sits in a grey area that policy keeps revisiting. Track the current remote-work category, the tax question, and whether you can use an office in Bangkok.

The lifestyle version

Chiang Mai, Bangkok, and some islands have coworking and cafe culture. Islands can have weak internet and loud nights. Try a month before you ship a life. Meetups exist; so do visa rumors that are wrong.

Notes to expand

  • Do not take local clients on a tourist stamp
  • Backup SIM and a place with a generator
  • Coworking vs condo desk
  • Tax residency is a real topic — get an accountant
